Good Leadership is about Engagement

Good Leadership is about Engagement

Good leadership skills are crucial to the success of a leader!

Such a simple statement that should be obvious to us all, but the reality is that often the ability to take employees with you – be it your team, a division or the entire organisation – is sorely lacking. Ask anyone!

According to Towers Watson’s 2014 Global Workforce Study released last month, Australia doesn’t do well in comparison with other geographies when it comes to employee engagement, and given that the biggest driver of sustainable engagement is great leadership, this finding is NOT welcome news.

So, ask yourself – does your leadership inspire confidence in your followers that you can motivate and guide the organisation through rapidly changing business environments?  Is your leadership able to adapt to changing internal and external circumstances? Does your leadership support and enable engaged employees enough to ensure their sustained engagement?

According to the Study, only 35% of employees believe that their organisation does well at developing future leaders. That creates both a huge risk and a huge challenge for leadership, HR and experts alike. How can you address leadership development in your organisation better, or do you aim to be more disruptive and completely overhaul what you have?
