Leaders, Communicate better!
That is the verdict of a survey whose results have just appeared in BRW. Given that one of the absolutely crucial facets of leadership is that leaders are able to communicate and share the vision (ie. strategic plan) by means of effective communication to employees within the organisation, it is disturbing to read that one-third of employees surveyed in Australia don’t know what that is for the current year.
The findings, from a Leadership Management Australasia survey of 400 people, demonstrates the importance of leaders needing to communicate and really ‘walking the talk’, clearly articulating both short and long term goals across the organisation.
How can Leaders Communicate better?
Getting the message across can often be more effective if delivered in a variety of methods – we all have our own preference for how we absorb information, after all. Try in-house newsletters or brochures, sending an internal e-mail, holding ‘Town Hall’ style meetings with groups across different locations, using a webinar to communicate across different time zones, etc. The list is not endless but plentiful!
