Stop Star Performers Losing their Passion

Stop Star Performers Losing their Passion

While many organisations offer a mentor/mentee type of arrangement – either formally or informally – to support their staff, some companies are going further to prevent the loss of their star performers.

It has long been recognised that while high performing individuals give of themselves in many ways to their job and employer, there are consequences for them on a personal level, including deteriorating relationships with family members, continual excessive stress, feeling overwhelmed and experiencing a loss of interest in anything external to work.

This lack of balance in life needs to be addressed in a holistic way in order for that balance to be restored. Work needs to be put back into its proper context, and other interests encouraged.

American Michael Kibler’s article cites a holistic executive development program carried out for 473 senior leaders from a Big 4 professional services firm.  The findings are interesting, and I wonder what Australian organisations can learn from this approach. Are any organisations here currently working in such a way and actively preventing their star performers from losing their passion for work?
